I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to share positive news for 2024 and express deep gratitude for the unexpected blessings we experienced in 2023.
Our puppy people are the biggest WHY behind our work, and we take great pride in providing them with the exceptional qualities found in Europe's Bouvier des Flandres - a special soul, a guardian protector, and a loving companion.
We value the relationships we build with each of our puppy homes, starting from the moment they receive their first baby picture and video. It brings us joy to educate new Bouv-parents about the breed and introduce children to what we hope will become their lifelong favorite breed.
In 2024, The House Of Bouvs has some exciting new ventures planned. We will begin the year by importing "genetic material" from the renowned Dafzicht lines in Europe. Our chosen stud, Wiseguy, is a champion in both show and protection sports. He embodies all the desirable traits of a traditional European Bouvier - impressive height, a sturdy and well-proportioned physique, a broad head, and exceptional intelligence. Wiseguy possesses the perfect balance of discernment and protectiveness, while also displaying self-control and quick obedience to commands. Despite his size and strength, he is gentle enough to be handled by children.
We have carefully selected Wiseguy to breed with our exceptional, female, Bouvier, Raya. Wiseguy embodies all the desirable traits of a traditional European Bouvier, including impressive height, a sturdy physique, and exceptional intelligence. Raya, on the other hand, is a big, fawn, girl with a strong ball-drive, making her easy to train and highly motivated.
From this extraordinary Raya x Wiseguy litter, we made arrangements to provide Bouvier pups to actively work in state police K9 departments. While we currently have several Bouviers in current and former officers’ private homes, these pups will be our first generation of working Bouviers.Â
Raya x Wiseguy puppies will also be well-suited for protective sports enthusiasts and families looking for extraordinary protection. We will offer guidance and support to help you plan for your Raya x Wiseguy pup's training needs.
To let you in on our behind-the-scenes planning, our 2024 goals include:
Expanding our facility fencing and gates to accommodate larger run areas and separate zones for adults, pups and any visitors that may need quarantining
Importing a female Bouvier and collaborating with an AKC handler/trainer to show her
Purchasing a high-quality, health-tested, fawn, female, Bouvier from a reputable American breeder
Reserving and training a male Bouvier from Raya x Wiseguy to prove the lines and as a future stud
Sending a European pup to an avid dog carting enthusiast to learn the tricks of the trade
Developing a relationship with our local 4-H chapter to introduce Bouviers and dog training
Publishing our first book, the biopic story of a WWII Resistance spy, Edmee Bowles, and her brave, Bouvier, Belco, from 1939 - 1949, as they fled from Nazis in Belgium, across France, over the Pyrenees Mountains, through Spain and to cargo ship in Portugal. Then, immediately upon arrival in the USA, she settled in Philadelphia and continued to fight the Nazis by breeding and training Bouviers for Dogs for Defense: an organization that was the forerunner of our current military canine corps.
Our mission is to strengthen the breed, improve its health, and positively impact the lives of those who welcome these remarkable dogs into their homes. We are committed to the principles of doing no harm, and leaving the breed in a better state than we found it.
The Bouvier des Flandres is a versatile and practical breed, capable of excelling in various roles and activities. It is our responsibility as breeders to ensure the Bouvier thrives and never again faces the risk of extinction. We believe that education plays a crucial role in achieving this goal, and we are dedicated to providing valuable knowledge and guidance to those who are interested in the Bouvier des Flandres.
We are soberly aware of our responsibility to contribute to the preservation and advancement of this extraordinary breed. We look forward to the challenges and joys that lie ahead as we continue our journey with these incredible canine companions.Â
Finally, we are delighted to announce that we have already established a waitlist for our Summer/Fall 2024 Bouvier des Flandres puppies. The response from interested individuals has been overwhelming, and we are grateful for the enthusiasm and support we have received.
While we understand that plans can change and unforeseen circumstances may arise, we encourage those who are committed to welcoming a Bouvier des Flandres puppy from The House Of Bouvs in 2024 to secure their reservation as soon as possible. To join our waitlist, we kindly request a deposit and some necessary information to add you to our list of reserved homes. Rest assured, we will keep you informed about each litter, and provide you with your "draft pick" order based on the timing of your deposit.
It is important to note that the number of puppies we receive, and their genders, are ultimately determined by nature. Despite our best efforts and careful planning, there are factors beyond our control. However, we firmly believe that life's seemingly imperfect timing often lead to the most perfect connections between puppies and their forever homes.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your trust and unwavering support. Your belief in our mission and your kindness have been critical to our work. We consider you an integral part of The House Of Bouvs, and we are committed to providing you with the highest quality Bouvier des Flandres puppies.
Wishing you a Happy New Year filled with joy and the love of a special Bouvier.
Warm regards,
Shana
