The best, most comprehensive, article ever written about "Lucky" the President's Bouvier des Flandres can be read on the Presidential Pet Museum website here: https://www.presidentialpetmuseum.com/pets/lucky/

We've heard, "If you're busy being the POTUS, you're probably too busy to train a Bouvier des Flandres." Yes, maybe! We believe Lucky could've been an asset to the White House if she had early obedience lessons. She seems well socialized but poorly leash trained. Pulling at the leash is one of the easiest handling problems to resolve - particularly when you acquire a Bouvier as a puppy.

Adult Bouviers are never described as a "boisterous" breed. "Couch potatoes," yes! High energy, no. In some ways, Lucky was UNlucky in the White House but blessed to be sent to the Reagan ranch to freely express herself if obedience lessons were not in the plans for her.

Please take our recommendation for Puppy Classes with your Bouvie very seriously. The number one reasons dogs end up in rescues and shelters is because they failed to meet the humans' expectations of them. As much as we personify dogs in our culture, they are not persons. Not capable of understanding the ways of humans without support and training to bridge the interspecies communication to understand your expectations.
